We have been operating on reduced hours since mid-March, but from April 7th will be more or less back to normal hours, although the first 30 mins of each day (apart from Sunday) will be reserved for high-risk shoppers. Opening times page.
Big (virtual, non-contact) hugs to everyone reading this. It’s not an easy time for anyone.
The past month has been one of the most challenging we have ever been through as a business. We experienced weeks of unprecedented sales (staff worked from 5am some mornings to try and keep the shelves full), massive and rapid changes in shopping patterns, and of course the necessity to make huge alterations to our practices as we have continued to provide the food people need while taking care of everyone’s well-being.
We are deeply grateful to be able to continue operating, and to you our customers for being so understanding, supportive, and patient. Here are a few things you might want to know, to help it all keep running smoothly…
What we’re asking of you
Please help us by sending just one household member in to do the shopping, rather than coming in pairs or families, and being patient if you have to wait in a queue outside. Once you’re in the shop, please move through as quickly as you can and if at all possible, pay by card. We ask that you try and respect the official advice on distance, both inside & outside the shop (2 metres = 2 shopping trollies).
Plenty of produce is still arriving daily and transport is running fine. Many people in our community cannot afford to stockpile. We need to look after the vulnerable and less affluent more than ever. Please feel free to buy your weekly shop but not to strip the shelves of essentials others need. We are limiting purchases on a few lines to a maximum of:
- Pasta of any kind: 3 packs (total)
- Doves Farm & Shipton Mill flour: 3 packs (total)
- Sonnet Disinfectant: 1
- Loo roll: 1 four-pack
- Anything else we normally sell by the case (milks, beans etc): 3 cases of each product (or upto that number of singles). Yes, this means you can buy 3 cases oatly plus 3 cases almond milk plus 3 cases soya milk etc. Hooray!
If you know of elderly or vulnerable people in our community, please think about whether you can offer to help them out with shopping or other essential needs. We’ve got a big box of #ViralKindness postcards in the shop to drop round to neighbours or anyone you think may be isolated right now. We don’t have the capacity, systems or vehicles to offer delivery but we’ll also be working on ways we might be able to help folk who will struggle.
Please follow government advice on self-isolating, and do not come to the shop if you are unwell.
We very much appreciate your support through this challenging time. Take care.
