We are glad to say that our offer is full of seasonal delights, and we have a bountiful and abundant range as normal. There are no limitations on purchases. Big thanks to customers for the support and appreciation we’ve been shown as we’ve navigated this challenging time. Take care.
Timed Entry on Mondays
We are now open on Mondays using Timed Entry only, from 10am to 7pm. The 9.30am to 10am slot remains reserved for high risk customers, with no booking needed.
Monday timed entry is open to all. It’s especially ideal for those who may struggle with uncertainty around a possible wait outside, for whatever reason. You do not need to be young, techie or the owner of a smartphone to use this service! Use a computer, phone or tablet to BOOK YOUR SLOT HERE, or we can book for you in person at the entrance door, just speak to the door manager. You can book upto one week in advance or even on the day itself (depending on availability).
On the day, come along to the shop at the time of your slot and you shouldn’t have to wait long (under 10 minutes). We’ll have a list at the door of who is due. We receive some very large deliveries on Mondays, so be aware that access to our car park could be restricted.
Timed Entry is now only happening on Mondays , so don’t panic if you can’t get a slot. You will still be able to come and shop as normal, without booking, Tuesday through Sunday! If you’re NHS or care staff, or in a vulnerable group, please do use the tool to book if Monday is a good day for you to shop. If not, you can come to the front of the queue as normal during the rest of the week.
Monday Cargo Bike Deliveries
On Mondays only, we are partnering up with Chorlton Bike Deliveries to offer FREE delivery to local shoppers (within 3 miles) using our Timed Entry slots. While we don’t currently have capacity to fulfil orders remotely, we hope this service will encourage our customers to shop for others on their street, and to help our many regulars who do not have access to a car for heavier shops.
Once you have booked a Monday entry slot with us, please call Glynis on 07561 737 986 to pre-arrange your car-free delivery. Glynis and her team of volunteers will be delivering within a 3 mile radius of the shop using their fleet of cargo bikes. HUGE thanks to Glynis and her team for making this service possible. The future is pedal-powered!
Opening Hours & Entry
The first 30 mins of each day (apart from Sunday) are reserved for high-risk shoppers. NHS staff and care workers can shop during our regular hours, just come to the front of the queue to avoid a wait.
What we’re asking of you
Please help us by sending just one household member in to do the shopping, rather than coming in pairs or families, and being patient if you have to wait in a queue outside. Once you’re in the shop, please move through as quickly as you can and if at all possible, pay by card. We ask that you try and respect the official advice on distance, both inside & outside the shop (2 metres = 2 shopping trollies). Please follow NHS advice on self-isolating, and do not come to the shop if you are unwell.
If you know of elderly or vulnerable people in our community, please think about whether you can offer to help them out with shopping or other essential needs. We’ve got a big box of #ViralKindness postcards in the shop to drop round to neighbours or anyone you think may be isolated right now. If you don’t have a car but have time to shop for a neighbour – see above for Monday bike deliveries.
The city council has set up a hub to support Manchester’s most vulnerable people, and help them cope with the impacts of the coronavirus outbreak.
They can help you if you are:
- over the age of 70, are self isolating and have no support network,
- if you have received a letter from the NHS advising you are high risk, or
- you are medically vulnerable according to the government criteria.
Help is also available for other reasons, for example if you are a carer, care leaver or young carer. Call the council’s Community Response team on 0800 234 6123.
