We are grocers with a mission. As a co-operative, our range of perspectives, cultures and life experiences strengthens our ability to fulfil that mission, and every time we recruit we have the opportunity to broaden our co-operative further. We are committed to building a workforce that is representative of the community we serve, creating a culture of belonging and providing equal employment opportunity.
Unicorn offers the following three types of employment;

Wholefood Grocers (co-op membership)
Unicorn is owned and managed by its 50 or so co-op members – employed on a permanent full or part-time basis. Within the co-op we work with a flat power structure and all members take on equal responsibility for co-managing our ethical food business, as well as getting stuck in on the shop floor.
Contracted Shop Work
Shop Workers support co-op members in the day to day running of the shop, working largely with the fruit & veg team, serving on the till, and packing down our own brand dried goods. Hours are contracted and operate over a two week rota, which includes working every other weekend.
Casual Work
We also employ a small pool of casual staff who work flexible hours on the shop floor; packing dried foodstuffs in our production area, working on the till and re-filling shelves. Casual work is suitable for people looking for some flexibility in when they work, and who may have commitments elsewhere. It’s not suitable for people needing regular, guaranteed hours.
