Fresh bread from artisan bakeries arrives daily at the deli, where you’ll also find an ever-expanding range of Unicorn-made salads, meals and baked delights. You can easily grab our ready-to-eat food without any single use packaging too!
Hot soups, salads & heat-to-eat meals
We produce an enormous range of homemade produce from our commercial kitchen onsite (upstairs above the shop!). We are very proud of our salads, dips, curries, and chillies, all made with our own lovely organic veg. We make it easy to avoid the disposable packaging that normally comes with ready-to-eat food – tubs are sold separately and about half of our customers now bring their own containers (saving tonnes of plastic and pennies too). We serve two varieties of hot soup daily, usually gluten free, always delicious, and you can ‘rent’ a cup off us instead of a throwaway.
Sweet treats & baked goods
Our sweet range includes flapjacks, cookies and truffles, which complement the wonderful cakes from Manchester’s Black Cat Cakery. Alongside these, we offer a huge range of olives and antipasti, pasties, calzones and sosmix rolls from Manchester-based Forest Foods and Saker Wholefoods in Yorkshire; pies and gammodoki (Japanese-style fried tofu balls) from Pauls in Leicestershire; and the North West’s best samosas, onion bhajis and other spicy snacks from award-winning Lily’s in Ashton-Under-Lyne. Pop them straight in a lunchbox or one of our little washable cloth bags.
Fantastic fresh bread arrives daily courtesy of The Handmade Bakery – a community supported workers co-op in Slaithwaite, Yorkshire, and the Wye Bakehouse – a family bakery based in Bakewell, Derbyshire. Both bakeries use organic flour and traditional methods to create exceptional artisan loaves. Handmade Bakery can be found on Tuesdays, Thursday & Fridays and Wye Bakehouse on Wednesdays, Saturdays & Sundays. Weekday deliveries are late morning/lunchtime and weekend deliveries are first thing in the morning.
