The key to this sauce is soffritto, so check out that recipe first. This base can go with pasta as it is, or add mince and cook on for lasagne, or blend and reduce it for pizza. Or, try adding butter beans, lentils, dried mushrooms, smoked paprika and a dash of balsamic vinegar for a tasty stew!
- 300 g soffritto half a portion
- 2-3 tins tomatoes with basil chopped
- Optional: chopped basil sweetener
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Add the tomatoes to the soffritto and cook for a long, long time on low.
