Bagthorpe Farm is a family-run farm that supplies us with potatoes, parsnips, beetroot, red onions and more.
Located in North West Norfolk, next to Sandringham, the farm comprises 100 acres of land, all under organic cultivation. The soil is sandy and stony, gently undulating, and includes 18 different woods and lots of hedges, so providing plenty of wildlife habitat.
The farm began its conversion to organic cultivation back in 1986. Keen to get off the treadmill of heavy pesticide and fertiliser use (they were using 65 different chemicals!!) Bagthorpe’s growers decided to return to a more natural way. With a growing market (and under-supply) they saw the massive potential for organic production, and also recognised that growing organically could increase employment in the area for full-time and seasonal workers.
Concentrating on non-supermarket customers, most of Bagthorpe Farm’s produce ends up at box schemes, wholesalers, farmers markets and independent shops like us.
